Blog Link Up-My Favorite Job

I'm a huge fan of Kelly's blog over at Kelly's Korner. Today she's doing a link up for those of us in direct sales. I'm a huge lover of books and love to instill that love into my girls, and formerly my students.

We have so many great programs to offer aside from just home (or online) parties.

Below is a list and a brief description of each one.

Reading is a Gift Book Fairs
Fun, easy and hassle-free!
Children choose from high quality Usborne and Kane Miller titles. Your organization receives up to 50% in FREE BOOKS.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

Who knew that being a mother was such a joyful, challenging, fulfilling, stressful, fun job! I don't think I appreciated my own mom enough until I had my own children.

I first became a mom on May 28th, 2008. Madison has brought us almost 6 years of laughter and joy... and the occasional dramatic flair. On January 6th, 2012 I became a mom for the second time. Helen has challenged me since in the womb.  She wants held all the time and says "I hug you" to get you to pick her up. She is as wild and crazy as her hair!

Because of these two I am a mom and for that I am thankful. Today we went on a hike and out to lunch. Then I enjoyed a few hours of alone time and went to see Moms' Night Out. I will write more about that tomorrow. For now I am going to enjoy what is left of my day and some quiet time with my hubby.

The Usual...

So I started the blog... then did the usual. By the time I read the blogs I follow I run out of time to write on my own. I'll get better. Maybe. Maybe not.

Family

One of my main reasons for starting this blog...family. It's so hard to remember sometimes so this will be a way to look back and see what we've done, where we've been and how far we've come. I'd like to post daily but really that's just realistic in my world right now. Maybe I just need to make a rule that I have to post before reading the blogs I follow.... Honestly our life isn't all that exciting either, it's just busy. With two girls, ages 5 (and a half) and 2 it's hard to find time to breath sometimes. Time to change another diaper.... Yup...that's my exciting life ;)

Reach For The Stars

Do I have any teachers out there? Daycare providers? Youth groups? Any other group that could benefit from raising money?

I want to share a program we offered called Reach For the Stars. It's a pledged base program that encourages kids to read, rewards them with new books and puts money in the teachers classroom. It can be done by an individual teacher, grade level or entire school.

It's super easy, lasts 2 weeks and requires little supplies. Each student gets a pledge sheet, which also has their order form on the back.

Here is how it works:
For example...
If you have 20 students and each of them get $100 in pledges that's $2,000. The kids would get 50% of what they personally raised to order books. So you would get $1000 in cash to use for your classrooms. The kids orders would be entered as a book fair ($1000)  so you would also then get $500 in free books!

It's a fantastic program! If you are interested in scheduling your Reach For the Stars program contact me to get it scheduled. Dates will fill up fast!

Why

Why blog? I'm not a writer, I'm actually pretty horrible at it. It was my worst area in school and my most difficult subject to teach during my 10 years of teaching.  For me this blog will be used to share information about our life, things in love and am passionate about and my business. Hence the Love, Life and Literacy subtitle. As a teacher and mom of two young girls literacy is something I am very passionate about and am working on ideas of how to improve it. Currently I'm working on a post about literacy and facts that I find extremely alarming! So there is a little about my "why."

I'll also be sharing books, activities and other things you can do with your little ones to foster reading and literacy skills.

So if you happen to stumble upon my blog please feel free to follow along or comment when the mood strikes.
